Iruai Winery (ear-oo-eye) is a really cool winery run by cool people in the northern reaches of the densely forested Shasta-Cascade mountains bordering Oregon and her Siskiyou Mountains. These are the Alps of California combined with the rugged terrain of the open plains, and Etna, CA, is where Chad and Michelle Westbrook Hinds decided to make their wild wines. With Oregon's Applegate Valley so close, this rosé is an Oregon blend of 50% Grenache / 50% Tempranillo, which highlights the more "red" aspects of pink wine with strawberry mousse aplomb, candied citrus, hiking trail rocks, and State Fair blackberry pie. It's soft but fresh, unique yet mainstream, natural but approachable, and easy to pair like any other rosé.Take a moment to peruse the Iruai page for food, music, and movie accompaniments.
