Guyana once had 300 rum estates, but today only one remains. Located on the banks of the Demerara River, Demerara Distillers uses some of the oldest stills in the world to distill and mature the premium line of El Dorado rum just 350 miles from the equator.
What makes this 15-year rum so unique is a combination of old wooden stills. El Dorado's Master Blender Sharon Sue-Hang-Baksh produces raw molasses-based spirit in Enmore wooden Coffey, Port Mourant wooden vat, Versailles wooden vat, and Diamond Coffey stills before blending and aging for a minimum of 15 years in ex-bourbon casks. The final product is like a fine cognac with notes of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, pepper, cedar, cigar smoke, and tropical fruit. 80 proof.
