Yohan Lardy is a 5th generation Beaujolais winemaker, who started his own label in 2012, and he's really been crushing it ever since. Deschamps comes from a half-acre of 75-year-old Gamay vines planted in granite, quartz, and manganese at nearly 1000 feet elevation. When perfectly ripe, whole clusters are semi-carbonic macerated for 20 days and aged 8 months in neutral oak barrels. Light filtration, no fining, and very low levels of sulfur are added just before bottling, resulting in a floral, concentrated wine full of character, with touches of sauvage, minerals, and plenty of blackberries. Drink now or cellar for a few years. Pair with sausages, grilled meats, cassoulet, and stews.
