Sekt (pronounced zekt) is the Germanic version of sparkling wine. Most Sekt gets its bubbles in tanks like Prosecco, but the better stuff is made like Champagne. Hager Matthias PUR is the latter. PUR Blanc de Noirs is 100% red Zweigelt vinified in old oak barrels before a second fermentation in bottles that lasts nearly two years before disgorgement. PUR is a low-sulfite, Biodynamic, effervescent, full-bodied wine with an incredible complexity on the nose and palate. Citrus, creamy berry fruit, and lots of minerals and structure make this Sekt taste more like a Blanc de Noirs Champagne.
