Founded in 1955, Bois de Boursan is a 25-acre under-the-radar winery located entirely within the boundaries of Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Father & son team Jean and Jean-Paul Versino grow all 13 permissible varietals for both the red and white Chateauneuf, and that's how "Le Petit Oursan" Blanc came about. It's some surplus old-vine Clairette from two vintages that's vinified with native yeast in enamel for a fresh, floral, zingy blanc showing notes of melon, almond paste, anise, and citrus. Try this excellent table wine when ready to take a break from the usual Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. Boursan is a $15 gem in a world of rare bargains!
