Made by the Brunier family since the turn of the 20th century, La Crau is their grand cru, 156-acre vineyard of old vines. Considered the finest vineyards in the AOC, Le Crau is a stone-filled plateau located in the southeast of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape with a distinct and expressive terroir. The final blend is 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, and 5% of Chateauneuf's other grapes aged 18 months in foudres and concrete. A dense wine made in a hot, dry vintage, 2020 Le Crau shows cherries, licorice, garrigue, minerals, earth, and saline notes. The magnum will last in the cellar for decades but can also be decanted for the holidays.
