With all its military bases, industry, and dense population, Rheinhessen does not have a reputation for being as idyllic and picturesque as the Mosel. Nevertheless, there are some beautiful vineyards as one travels south of Mainz and west of Ludwigshafen deeper into the greater region of the Rhineland-Palatinate. Yes, this region is the birthplace of sweet Liebfraumilch and Blue Nun, but there are some world-class winemakers like Moritz Kissinger, Florian Fauth, Klaus Peter & Julia Keller. Florian happens to be Julia's brother and shares plots alongside the Kellers' in the finest Riesling sites, such as Morstein. Seehof Kabinett is so incredibly good yet well-priced for a single vineyard wine. At an off-dry 9.5% abv, Morstein is rich, textured, and delicious while maintaining a defined streak of limestone minerals and acidity. Think peach, apricot, green plum, and lime zest. We also carry Seehof Pinot Noir Rose.
