Along with several Morgon winemakers like Jean-Paul Thevenet and Jean Foillard, Marcel Lapierre makes cellar-worthy Beaujolais. Their limited wines have gained cult status and are always in demand among fans of serious Cru wine. Since 2010, Marcel's son Mathieu has taken over the Lapierre vineyards and winemaking. He fully intends to continue the standards established by his late father and preserve the traditions of Beaujolais as a whole with elegant, subtle, vibrant, natural Gamay showing immense complexity. No matter the vintage, Lapierre Morgon is plush with a seductive nose followed by a palate loaded with raspberry, strawberry, Asian spice, and red plum before a silky, juicy, mineral-laced, structured finish. Age for a few years or drink now, lightly chilled, with just about any food.
