Domaine des Tourelles was founded in 1868 by French emigre François-Eugène Brun. Since 2000, the Issa and Issa-el-Khoury families have been owners and operators, with Faouzi Issa as the winemaker. Faouzi makes this wine from 50-year-old vines grown on dry-farmed, high-elevation vineyards (3,445 feet) in the famed Bekaa/Beqaa Valley bordering Syria. Cinsault is fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeast, then aged in old oak barrels for 8 months. While you might expect a thick, dense wine, Tourelles is elegant, complex, and dry with notes of dusty olive wood, cedar, exotic spices, and dried rose petals on a medium-bodied frame. Pair with tagines, grilled food, shawarma, kebabs, and anything with olive oil. 13.5% ABV.
