Fermi Bohigas is a family winery dating back to the 13th century. Located on the outskirts of Barcelona, this 700-acre estate is known for high-end Cava made with a traditional blend of Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parellada. The current owner, Jordi Casanovas Bohigas, manages 360 acres of vineyards of Cava varietals grown in the River Anoia Valley — about 45 miles west of Barcelona. Winemaker Maria Casanovas crafts unique sparklers with all the care and quality of Champagne but at half the cost. This NV is an estate blend of Xarel-lo, Macabeo, and Parellada made like Champagne with a second fermentation in-bottle that lasts for 24 months, yielding a fine mousse with notes of apple, pears, and fruit tart.
