Brad and Kathleen McLeroy pioneered a new sub-appellation of the Willamette Valley known as Ribbon Ridge near Newberg, Oregon, where the couple planted 20 acres of prime vineyards with various Pinot clones. This vintage of Ayres' Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is more than half Ribbon Ridge estate Pinot, and the rest is Yamhill-Carlton fruit fermented with wild yeasts and aged in 100% French oak (15% new). Whereas Ayres' Willamette Valley Pinot is always solid, this late-harvest vintage is especially good. The flavors are amplified from an ideal growing season to highlight floral, dark fruit, raspberry, spice, and forest-floor earth notes. Aerate or decant before enjoying with grilled tuna, lamb, veal saddle, or even Asian fare.
