Apparently, the emu likes some people and not others. We like some California Pinots and not others. We like Strangeways very much. It's a serious value from winemaker Alison Crowe, who sources from as far north as Napa and down to the Central Coast. Grapes are destemmed and steel-vinified before aging in French oak (45% new) for one year. We think this is where the magic happens. Value Pinot Noir can swing from being too oaky and extracted to too sweet and light, but Strangeways is right in the middle while maintaining its true red-berry Pinot character with a touch of wood and earth notes. Just 1,500 cases.
