Clandestino is another example of Chile's ability to craft any varietal at a fair price. Damien, a French winemaker, worked at Chateau l'Escart in Bordeaux, where he met Lorena and moved back to her homeland to make wine from a fresh perspective. Due to late ripening, you don't find much Petit Verdot in Bordeaux, but the Maipo Valley has no such issues. Clandestino is 100% organic, unoaked, expressive Petit Verdot fermented with native yeast and without filtration, added sulfur, or new wood. Blackberry, blueberry, and plum on the nose with hints of violet. Well-integrated tannins on a supple palate.
