This wine is made by a 'Cantine Sociali' (cooperative) started in 1894 and revived in 1958 by the parish priest of Barbaresco, Don Fiorino Marengo. The 50+ members of Produttori have a total of only 250 acres out of 1682 around the town of Barbaresco and in the premier districts of Asili, Rabajà, Pora, Montestefano, Ovello, Pajé, Montefico, Moccagatta, and Rio Sordo. Since each farmer owns relatively little land, you can rest assured that all their skill and energy are dedicated to growing the finest fruit. This fuller-bodied, ready-to-go Barbaresco is well structured with minerals, red fruit, orange peel, tea, violets, tar, spice, and plum. It remains one of the most dependable wines for the money.
