With a 200-year-old history in La Morra, the Oddero family was among the first to bottle Barolo wine, so they know a lot about the Nebbiolo grape. Oddero Langhe Nebbiolo is basically a young Barolo that doesn't qualify for the village appellation because it spends a shorter amount of time in barrels, but this wine is just as delicious. The single vineyard fruit is sourced from the Bricco San Biagio vineyard in La Morra, fermented in steel, and then aged for one year in large, neutral oak. So what does a young, easy-drinking "Barolo" taste like? Think intoxicating floral notes, aromatic blue fruit, scintillating framboise acids, and a touch of tarry-tobacco earth on a smooth finish. Give this a light chill and serve with pizza, grilled sausages, salumi, or a weeknight eggplant parm slathered in cheese.
