Now in its fifth generation, the Niepoort family still owns and operates their brand. Dirk van der Niepoort is famous for very old Tawnies, but his younger Ports delivers lots of bang for the buck. This Tawny is an organic blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, and Tinta Roriz sourced from three vineyards. Grapes from 30-year vines are crushed by foot and aged for 3.5 years in small casks for a nose of fruit cake and roasted nuts. The palate shows dried fruit, refreshing acids, potpourri, and restrained sweetness. Pair with savory and sweet dishes, appetizers, or use in your favorite recipes.
