Bodegas Marques Murrieta is an old-time brand in La Rioja dating back to 1852. With one of the most iconic labels in Spanish wine, Castillo Ygay is Murrieta's flagship Rioja and ranks consistently among the greatest high-scoring Riojas. The 2010 Ygay Gran Reserva Especial is a blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15% Mazuelo (Cariñena) - all grown on Ygay's 700-acre estate. The varietals were vinified separately in steel, followed by more than two years in French and American oak and another four years in the bottle. This big, expressive, elegant Rioja is full of bramble berries, plums, cherries, and earth notes that will continue to develop in the cellar for many years.
