Egri Bikaver was once synonymous with coarse red wine blend made primarily of Kekfrankos (aka Blaufränkisch). The name in English is Bull's Blood, but since the "Superior" classification was added, Egri Bikaver from quality producers like Gal Tibor are refined, elegant, and well-aged in Hungarian oak. This east/west varietal blend from the Eger Valley is unfiltered, low-sulfite, medium-bodied, and dry with notes of black cherry, bramble berries, savory herbs, and spice. Pair with goulash, paprikash, sauteed chicken liver, and kabobs.
