Weingut Becker is located in the village of Schweigen, right on the border of Alsace, about an hour's drive north of Strasbourg. Here, the Becker family produces some of Germany's finest Pinot varietals, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris. Named for its copper-hued skins, Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder in German) yields a dense, rosy wine just after a few days of skin contact, but steel fermentation and aging in both steel and very large neutral barrels keep this wine fresh and supple with hints of strawberries & cream, pink citrus, and lemon zest. The best part about Becker P. Gris is that it can stand in for white, red, or rosé and pairs well with meat, fish, cheese, and poultry.
