Chateau Grand Launay is the epitome of classic, well-made Bordeaux. Furthermore, it's certified organic from a great vintage and costs less than $20! As a neighbor of Pomerol, Cotes de Bourg is overshadowed by more famous Right Bank appellations, but this large AOC of 4000 acres offers a wealth of value-driven options. Owned and operated by winemaker Pierre-Henri Cosyns, the chateau is planted primarily with Merlot, followed by Malbec, Cabernet, and Franc. 2019 is about three-quarters Merlot supplement by Malbec fermented in steel with indigenous yeast and aged in concrete and old wood. Launay exhibits ripe old-vine fruit balanced by grippy tannins, blue plums, and dark, acidic berries with a smudge of savory herbs and earth. Launay is worth considering by the case - especially this vintage.
