Philip Togni Vineyard could undoubtedly be classified as a cult winery, but the wine goes far beyond being a status symbol with high scores and higher prices. This is real wine made by real people, not a PR firm. Philip Togni's training spans back to when he studied under Emile Peynaud at the University of Bordeaux. While earning his Diplôme National d'Oenologie, Philip worked as assistant Régisseur (manager) at Château Lascombes in Margaux, where he gained an appreciation for age-worthy elegant blends of Cab, Franc, Merlot, and P. Verdot. Before planting his own vines high up on f Spring Mountain, he worked at Mayacamas, Chalone, Inglenook, Chappellet, and Cuvaison. Now, with the help of his daughter Lisa, Togni Vineyards currently farms 10.5 acres of classic Bordeaux varietals. The sense of terroir is a big part of Togni wine, and the term 'estate' on the label actually means something. All the wines are produced by the family, using exclusively estate-grown fruit. This insular approach ensures a distinct terroir-driven house style that distinguishes Togni from other Napa wines.
