Refosco is one of the more obscure grapes from the greater region known as Triveneto or Tre Venezie in northeast Italy, but it yields delicious red wine worth trying. Made by the fourth generation of the De Stefani family, Redentore is medium-bodied with purple hues and a bright nose of ripe fruit and licorice. The palate shows blackberries before a structured finish of plum and sandalwood over fine tannins. Serve this certified biodynamic, low-sulfite Refosco with stew, ragu, roasted or grilled meats, and vegetarian casseroles.
