In the late 1990s, Nick and Andy Peay and Nick's wife, Vanessa Wong, were looking for an undiscovered wine-making spot. They finally settled in a remote part of the newer AVA known as Sonoma Coast, an hour north of San Francisco near Sea Ranch and Annapolis. Almost all their wine is produced with fruit grown on the 53-acre hilltop vineyard overlooking the cool and foggy Pacific Ocean four miles away.
2020 was a challenging hot year for Pinot Noir, so Vanessa Wong blended the best fruit from three distinct vineyard blocks: Scallop Shelf, Pomarium, and Ama. In order to temper the Pinot, no new oak or whole clusters were used, allowing for a balanced palate of cherries, blood orange, raspberry, cocoa, and sage. Yet another exquisite wine from Peay, ready to enjoy now. We also carry their Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. and the second label Cep Pinot Noir, and Cep Syrah.
