The Mayacamas property has existed since 1889 but officially took on the mountain range's name in 1947. In 2013, the Schottenstein family became the new owners and, with Phil Cotturi's help, began a revitalization program of the 50 acres of vines situated at 2,400 feet. With old oak, certified organic farming, and a fresh outlook, winemaker Andy Erickson crafts terroir-based, powerful, and unadulterated Cabernet in the Mount Veeder AVA. For Napa connoisseurs who might know that the region was beset with wildfires in 2020, you can rest assured that all the fruit was picked before the fires. This vintage is full-bodied with dense tannins, sage, cherries, spice, plums, and currants.
