Luigi Ferrando and his sons, Roberto and Andrea, make wine in the shadows of Mont Blanc, not too far from Turin. Most of the acreage is dedicated to high-altitude Nebbiolo, but they also make the white wine of Canavese with local Erbaluce. As opposed to their crisp & dry Etichetta Bianca, the green label “Etichetta Verde” is a lusher, riper, lower alcohol version of Erbaluce from the single-vineyard “cru” site of Cascina Cariola located in the village of Piverone. Notes of baked apple, pear tarte, minerals, and mountain foliage. 12% abv. Pair with fresh herb pasta, cheeses, chicken, and river fish.
