Closiers is a new domaine founded in 2018 by Anatole de la Brosse, with Michel Chevré of Clos L’Ecotard and Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard acting as consultants. Their wines are made with organic fruit from 37 acres of hillsides in the village of Parnay. The grapes are hand-picked, steel-fermented with indigenous yeasts, and macerated for extended periods. Though it's the younger version of two cuvees, Les Closiers is a serious steel-aged Cabernet Franc. After a month-long maceration, the palate is dense with tobacco, red and black berries, smoke, floral notes, and grippy tannins. Whether it's game, beef, or bold cheeses, this elegant Saumur is ready to enjoy now or age.
