Since everyone loves a tale of redemption, we'll tell you the story of Giscours' sullied history. The winery was born in a Margaux dungeon during the 1300s and functioned well for nearly 700 years until the owners made some poor choices. Occasional financial improprieties don't concern the average wine drinker, but the illegal wood-chipping incident of the late 1990s brought about Giscours' downfall and subsequent rebirth. We're happy to report that soaking oak chips & staves is in the past, and since 2000, all the Giscours wines have been rock solid. By the way, 2016 in Margaux was one of the finest vintages since 2009. A delicious blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot with a deep purple color and classic notes of cassis, cocoa, plums, blackberry, pencil lead, sandalwood, spice, and earth. Drink now through 2040.
