Oregon has such a diverse repertoire of grapes. In addition to producing world-renowned Pinot Noir, Oregon is also home to a host of Alsatian varietals such as Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, and Gewurztraminer. However, there is another Burgundian grape that is rarely associated with Oregon, Chardonnay. If you’ve given up on American Chards, you should try some from up north. Closer to their counterparts in Burgundy, Oregon Chards are generally leaner and dry than those made in Cali. And if you’re looking for terroir, the Bergstrom family are sticklers about preserving the locale’s flavor through judicious oak treatment. Fermented and aged in neutral barrels, Old Stones is bright, mineral-laden, and juicy, with sea shells, honeysuckle, lemon curd, and pineapple notes. Perfect with fish, mushroom risotto, mac & cheese, and cream sauces.
