Umbria is a landlocked region bordered by Tuscany to the west, Marche to the east, and Lazio to the south. It is famous for Sagrantino and Sangiovese but is also home to one of the most renowned white wines, Orvieto. It's not as popular anymore, but this under-appreciated blend of organic Grechetto, Trebbiano, and a little Verdello from Orvieto's Classico Superiore zone is worth rediscovering. Notes of wildflowers, yellow plum & apples, citron, with a touch of beeswax and herb. Enjoy with fish, Carbonara, cacio e pepe, risotto, and chicken.
