Distillerie Poisson makes Pere Labat on the island of Marie-Galant, part of Guadeloupe, and still part of France - hence all the French words. Unlike Spanish and English molasses-based rum, French Caribbean Rhum is built on fresh sugarcane juice and traditions dating back to the 17th century. Pere Labat Rhum Agricole is the product of four varieties of local sugarcane distilled in a small, old Creole column still. The flavors are smooth, fruity, complex, grassy, minerally, and the liter size is perfect for mixing into a Ti' Punch with lime juice, ice, and cane or simple syrup. Bottled at "island proof" of 118.
