Guyana once had 300 rum estates, but today only one remains. Located on the banks of the Demerara River, Demerara Distillers uses some of the oldest stills in the world to distill and mature the premium line of El Dorado rum just 350 miles from the equator.
El Dorado is not your basic white rum. It is produced from a base of raw molasses juice from the Skeldon & Blairmont estates and distilled in heritage French Savalle column still before aging a minimum of three years in ex-bourbon casks. The final product is filtered through charcoal for a crystal-clear color while leaving full-flavored complex notes of white chocolate, coconut candy, vanilla bean, flan, buttered brioche, and golden raisins.
