There's something nostalgic about brands fermenting, distilling, and aging their whiskey in one place, but that is not required to produce exceptional bourbon. In 2013, when Joe Beatrice founded Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, KY, his focus was not on distilling but sourcing, blending, and aging. Like chefs, the Barrell team uses wood, raw whiskey, and aging sites like ingredients in fine cuisine. Vantage is a blend of bourbons sourced from Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee, aged in Japanese, French, and American oak casks before blending. Notes of cinnamon candy, chocolate, Asian spice, ginger, butter cookies, pipe tobacco, tropical fruit, apples, and herbs. 114.5 proof.
