Hugo Asbach learned to make brandy in France before returning to Rüdesheim am Rhein and establishing his distillery in 1892. Also made from wine, Asbach is similar to Cognac, but in Germany, it's called Weinbrand or simply Brand. The 8-Year-old edition is aged in French Limousin oak casks and German oak barrels, yielding a smooth, warm brandy with hints of fruitcake. 80 proof.
