Amrut (Sanskrit for 'nectar of immortality') was founded by the Jagdale family in Bangalore (southwest India, 200 miles west of Chennai) after India's independence from the United Kingdom, and they've been a pioneer in high-quality domestic spirits ever since. They make fine dark rum, but Whisky is their primary focus. The Single Malt is from a base of barley grown in northwest India and aged in American oak and ex-Bourbon barrels for a blend of Old World/New World flavors on the palate with malted grain, fruit preserve, spice, honey, molasses, toffee, and licorice.
