Don Casiano García started making wine in Orotava Valley in the 1940s on vineyards 3000 feet above sea level. These days, grandson Carlos Garcia crafts unapologetically local wines on the northern edge of Mount Teide with grapes handpicked from braided cord vibes that can crawl 30 feet up steep slopes. For now, Bodegas Arautava is exporting just a few wines, but we look forward to trying more products from the Canary Islands.
