The Maillart family has cultivated grapes since 1753--and possibly as far back as the 1500s. The 40-acre Grand/Premier Cru property in Montagne de Reims is now in its ninth generation. Nicolas's Platine (platinum) is a blend of 54% Pinot Noir, 26% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Meunier, of which 30-40% of the reserve wine is aged in oak. Deep, deep golden in color with round notes of apples, stewed pears, roasted chestnuts, bread, and lilies. It is a full-bodies wine that goes wonderfully with food.
