Les Hauts du Tertre is the second label of Château du Tertre (Fifth Growth classified) and a neighbor of Château Giscours in Margaux. Le Tertre can trace its roots back to the 12th century, but like all Chateaux, there are peaks and dips in consistency over the centuries. Since being acquired by the former owners of Giscours in the late 1990s, quality has improved tremendously. 2018 is Cabernet-dominant with a hefty dose of Cabernet Franc (25%) plus Merlot. Notes of cherry, supple blue fruit, tobacco, grilled herbs, licorice, menthol, and peppery spice. Drink this medium-bodied, well-priced Margaux tonight.
