If there is one Left Bank region not known for bargains, it is Pauillac. Nevertheless, there is a second label that makes this exclusive AOC accessible. Lacoste-Borie is made from the same 90 acres of vineyards as Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a Fifth Growth classified chateaux that split off from Château Grand-Puy-Ducasse in 1750. 2018 is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc fermented in steel and aged in oak (50% new), resulting in a plush, medium-bodied, juicy wine with silky red fruit, cassis, and chocolate-covered cherries. And it's ready to drink now.
