Granier Menthe Liqueur is nothing like the sweet, green cough syrup we've long accepted as Creme de Menthe. That stuff is made with extracts, oils, and food coloring, but two youthful brothers, Stephane & Vincent Granier, decided there was a better way. Theirs is the color of emerald-tinged amber because it's made with 100% hand-picked Auvergne peppermint leaves infused in organic wheat spirit, diluted with water from the distillery's home base near Lake Annecy (25 miles south of Geneva, CH), and lightly sweetened with French sugar. Herbaceous notes of fresh garden mint, tarragon, and a touch of white pepper. Great for cocktails, hot chocolate, spiked coffee, or over rock as a digestif. Refreshing yet subtle and elegant. 48 proof. **To answer a burning question: why isn't it green?! A: When you dry herbs, chlorophyll breaks down and oxidation occurs, hence the loss of pigment.
